IT’S HALLOWEEN, AND GODZILLA IS CHECKING EVERY FAVORITE FOR A DISGUISE! Read more: Godzilla Wins: Halloween Saturday College Football.

Some of these road teams have the muscle to cover. Others are walking into a street fight with too many points attached to their name. Reputations don’t mean anything in Vegas.

Noon — No. 22 Arizona at No. 13 Texas Tech

ESPN | Line: Texas Tech -3.5

Godzilla’s breakdown

Lubbock can turn a road trip into a bar fight. But Noah Fifita has enough experience to walk through that door without asking permission.

Arizona arrives with five straight victories, an offense averaging 310.9 passing yards per game, and a defense producing 3.29 sacks per game. That gives the Wildcats two credible ways to hang around: answer scores through the air and knock Texas Tech off schedule with pressure.

But Texas Tech is an angry team coming off a Cincinnati stinker.

My play is based on Arizona’s secondary. Starting cornerback Jay’Vion Cole is out, which increases the pressure on that defensive front to get home.

Texas Tech deserves respect coming home after its first defeat. I expect the Red Raiders to respond.

GODZILLA’S PICK: Texas Tech -3.5.

Noon — No. 19 SMU at Syracuse

ESPN2 | Line: SMU -10.5

Godzilla’s breakdown

SMU came out of halftime against Cal and hit the accelerator so hard the rearview mirror fell off.

The Mustangs outscored Cal 42–0 in the second half, allowing only 50 yards after the break. More useful for this matchup: SMU averages 313.1 passing yards per game and has allowed opponents to convert just 27 of 99 third downs, fourth best nationally.

That combination creates a path to separation. Kevin Jennings can move SMU quickly, while the defense can keep Syracuse from answering with long possessions.

Syracuse’s best response is to run effectively on early downs. Ahmad Miller has consecutive games above 120 rushing yards, so the Orange have a legitimate way to keep the offense balanced.

There is also an important quarterback update: Steve Angeli is expected to play, according to Friday’s availability reporting. We should handicap Syracuse with that expectation rather than assume it will be forced to use a replacement. Won’t matter.

I expect a competitive opening stretch, followed by SMU gaining control as its passing game forces Syracuse to chase. Then it gets ugly.

GODZILLA’S PICK: SMU -10.5

Noon No. 25 Wisconsin at Iowa

ESPN Line: Iowa -3.5

Godzilla’s breakdown

Wisconsin just put USC’s running game in reverse. Now Iowa loses its leading rusher, and we’re getting more than a field goal? Seriously?

Hand me the Badgers and the hook, baby!

Wisconsin’s 24–7 victory over USC included holding the Trojans to negative net rushing yardage. That defensive performance gives the Badgers a credible foundation for another physical game. Boom.

Iowa will be without Kamari Moulton for the remainder of the season. He led the Hawkeyes with 541 rushing yards. Kirk Ferentz has also named Hank Brown the starting quarterback after Iowa split quarterback duties against Minnesota. Who will run the ball?

My expectation is a game built around field position, avoiding turnovers and converting a handful of scoring opportunities. That makes +3.5 particularly valuable: an Iowa field-goal victory still cashes the Wisconsin ticket.

Iowa allows only 14.3 points per game, and its offensive line has surrendered just six sacks in seven games. Wisconsin will have to earn its offense, and we should not assume the Badgers can overwhelm that protection. Close, but WI wins the whole game.

GODZILLA’S PICK: WISCONSIN +3.5 Best Bet

3:30 p.m. — No. 17 Florida vs. No. 3 Georgia (Atlanta)

ESPN Line: Georgia -12.5

Godzilla’s breakdown

Georgia can win the cocktail party. Florida can cash the ticket.

The Bulldogs deserve to be favored. Their season averages show the advantage: 43 points scored and 15.9 allowed, compared with Florida’s 39.6 scored and 28.3 allowed. Georgia’s offensive efficiency against Florida’s defense is the clearest argument for laying the points.

But this is a substantial margin to demand against a Florida team that just won 27–24 at Texas with Tramell Jones Jr. playing quarterback. The Gators have already demonstrated they can remain composed in a difficult matchup.

CBS reported Friday that Aaron Philo is expected to start for Florida.

My Florida case starts with sustaining drives and avoiding the giveaways that would hand Georgia short fields. If the Gators make the Bulldogs drive the length of the field and convert their own scoring chances, a seven-to-ten-point Georgia win is very plausible. Upset potential? Why not?

The risk is Florida’s defense allowing Georgia to turn ordinary possessions into touchdowns. A couple of early defensive breakdowns could put this cover in trouble quickly.

I expect Georgia to win. At +12.5, Florida has enough offensive ability to stay involved through the fourth quarter. Could be a sneaky back door

GODZILLA’S PICK: FLORIDA +12.5.

3:30 p.m. — No. 20 Northwestern at Oregon

ESPN Line: Oregon -3.5

Godzilla’s breakdown

You have got to be kidding g me?

Oregon has the uniforms. Northwestern has an offense that is functioning right now. Oregon players making 2027 NIL deals.

Aidan Chiles has completed 71.3 percent of his passes, thrown 12 touchdown passes and added nine rushing touchdowns. Northwestern averages 34.7 points per game. Chiles’ ability to threaten defenses in multiple ways is the foundation of this pick. Run. Pass.

Meanwhile, Oregon has averaged just 14 points over its last three games. The Ducks dismissed offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer after the Illinois loss, with Jay Johnson taking the lead in calling plays. Dylan Raiola is expected to get the quarterback assignment. Nightmare.

A coaching change can produce a spark. My concern for Oregon is how much improvement it needs to create comfortable separation against a team with a productive quarterback.

Northwestern can keep possessions alive with Chiles’ accuracy, then use his legs when coverage takes away the initial throw. That flexibility matters in a difficult road environment.

Autzen is the biggest obstacle. Crowd noise, an early turnover or a sharp opening script from Oregon could change the game quickly. Still, I see enough uncertainty in the Ducks’ offense to take Northwestern with more than a field goal. Team in disarray. This is my outright upset call of the afternoon.

GODZILLA’S PICK: NORTHWESTERN +3.5 Best Bet

3:45 p.m. — No. 6 Utah at Cincinnati

ESPN Line: Utah -6.5 to -7

Godzilla’s breakdown

Nippert already swallowed one ranked favorite. Utah had better arrive ready to tackle.

Cincinnati’s win over Texas Tech was backed by real production: 252 rushing yards, including 173 from Cole Tabb, plus three defensive takeaways. The Bearcats remain unbeaten at home.

But it’s let down city. See UCF last night.

That creates a serious test for a Utah defense allowing 88.3 rushing yards and 14.6 points per game. On offense, Devon Dampier adds another dimension with his legs—he ran for 150 yards against Houston last week.

Here is why I love Utah: the Utes have a plausible answer for Cincinnati’s preferred ground game, and their quarterback can generate offense when the conventional running attack stalls.

I expect Cincinnati to make Utah work. Tabb’s performance against Texas Tech is a warning against treating Utah’s season defensive average as a guarantee. The Bearcats can also cover this number with one productive late possession.

My projected difference comes from Utah forcing a few more difficult third downs and Dampier extending a couple of drives that would otherwise end in punts.

GODZILLA’S PICK: UTAH -6.5

7 p.m. — No. 24 Oklahoma State at Iowa State

ESPN Line: Oklahoma State -9.5

Godzilla’s breakdown

Ames after dark can get spooky. Drew Mestemaker is bringing enough offense to turn on the lights.

Oklahoma State averages 529.1 yards and 40 points per game. Mestemaker has thrown for at least 300 yards in six consecutive games. That is a sustained offensive threat entering this matchup.

Iowa State averages 339.9 yards, and injuries have stripped away much of its intended receiving depth: the Cyclones are missing four of their expected top six receivers. They are coming off a 39–3 loss at Arizona.

My read is that Iowa State has a narrow path: establish the run, consume possessions and keep the game from becoming a passing contest. Aiden Flora gives the Cyclones a legitimate chance to do that; he has 716 rushing yards and averages more than seven yards per carry.

Very narrow, indeed.

If Oklahoma State gets ahead early, though, Iowa State would have to chase with that depleted receiving group. That is the game state I expect to decide the cover.

Road execution is the concern. A couple of empty possessions or turnovers could keep the home team involved. Over four quarters, I favor the Cowboys’ ability to produce repeated scoring drives

GODZILLA’S PICK: OKLAHOMA STATE -9.5

Best Bet

7:30 p.m. — No. 2 Ohio State at USC

ESPN Line: Ohio State -7

Godzilla’s breakdown

Ohio State’s defense made the trip. Julian Sayin will be missing from the lineup. That changes the assignment.

The latest reporting expects true freshman Luke Fahey to start, although Ryan Day had not publicly confirmed the decision in the reports reviewed. Sayin remains out indefinitely.

I still make Ohio State the likelier winner. The Buckeyes allow 13.4 points and 264.3 yards per game, while Jeremiah Smith has 984 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. A young quarterback has a much better chance when those are his supporting pieces.

The question is whether Ohio State creates enough separation to cover.

USC’s 24–7 loss at Wisconsin looked awful, and tanked their season.

Lincoln Riley is already looking for another job.

I expect Ohio State to prioritize protecting its new starter and avoiding unnecessary risks. That gives USC a path to stay within one score if Jayden Maiava protects the ball.

USC’s running game was pushed backward last week. Repeated obvious passing situations against Ohio State could produce another ugly evening. Duck soup.

GODZILLA’S PICK: Ohio State -7

7:30 p.m. — No. 1 Miami at North Carolina

ESPN Line: Miami -14

Godzilla’s breakdown

Bill Belichick can draw up a brilliant defense. Somebody still has to tackle Malachi Toney when the ball arrives.

Miami averages 551.9 yards and 49 points per game. Darian Mensah has completed 81.4% of his passes, and Toney has 952 receiving yards. Running backs Mark Fletcher Jr. and Javian Mallory have combined for 858 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.

That variety is why I’m willing to lay two touchdowns. Miami has several ways to sustain drives, so North Carolina has to solve more than one problem.

The Hurricanes should use their running game to keep the pass rush honest, then let Mensah distribute the ball before pressure can develop. My expectation is that Miami eventually creates more scoring opportunities than Carolina can match.

North Carolina has a legitimate disruptive player in defensive tackle Xavier Lewis, who has seven sacks. If he creates negative plays and forces Miami into long third downs, this number becomes much harder to cover.

I expect Carolina to have competitive stretches. I also expect Miami’s offensive efficiency to produce the decisive separation.

GODZILLA’S PICK: MIAMI -14

7:45 p.m. — No. 23 Missouri at Arkansas

ESPN Line: Missouri -10

Godzilla’s breakdown

The Hogs have some momentum. Now Jamal Roberts is coming to test whether they can hold their ground.

Roberts has 867 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Missouri’s defense allows just 3.1 yards per rush, while Arkansas averages 111.6 rushing yards per game. That points toward a Missouri advantage in controlling the game on the ground.

My preferred Missouri script is straightforward: give Roberts enough work to keep the offense on schedule, make Arkansas defend the run, and force the Razorbacks into a greater reliance on their passing game.

There is a reason this sits below my best bets. Missouri scored only three points in its last game, a 31–3 defeat at Ole Miss. Arkansas, meanwhile, comes off a 31–21 win at Vanderbilt. Both teams had a bye.

Missouri needs to demonstrate that its offense has recovered. I expect the Tigers to do enough, but I see a narrower cover than in the Oklahoma State game.

GODZILLA’S PICK: MISSOURI -10. Meh.
