How we build it
Public data, no black box. Lines from ESPN and DraftKings, schedules and results from nflverse and ESPN, twenty-plus seasons of history behind the ratings.
Four things the box score hides. Rest, travel and body clock. Coaching and quarterback continuity. Officiating crews. Where the line opened and how it moved.
A call on every game, graded by how much it is worth. Strong (the model past 56 percent; the ones we would bet), Lean (53 to 56), Slight (under 53; a direction, not a bet). The percentage is printed on each one. A pass means the line is off or the model has no read.
The ledger is the product. Every lean, dated, with the line we posted it at. Never edited. Judge us on it.
The Card is information and analysis, not a promise of results. Leans are the desk's model read; the ledger shows every one, hit or miss, and is never edited after the fact.
